Spell Tracker: Pathfinder Edition is now available for iPhone!
Another couple of weeks have gone by, and there’s been a ton of progress on Spell Tracker! But this week I want to tell you about one thing in particular…
Spell Tracker: Pathfinder Edition is now available in the App Store for $2.99/£2.99/€3.49.
Since I launched Spell Tracker last year I’ve been overwhelmed by requests for an iOS version via email, here on Reddit, on Facebook, and on Twitter. I aim to please – so here it is! It comes with all the same features as the Android version.
Some of you might be wondering why it’s free on Android, but not free on iPhone. Well, the truth is that right now I do this as a hobby. I’d love to make amazing Pathfinder and D&D apps full-time, but it’s not gong to happen yet. So I have to think about costs.
To release an app on Android requires a one-time $25 fee, then everything else (from the software to the awesome hardware emulator) is free. But to release an app on iOS requires a yearly $99 fee, plus a Mac to build the software (which is $500+ for the cheapest Mac Mini), plus an iPhone for testing (which is $300+ if you get an old used one). So it costs almost $1000 to have a full iOS setup. When I put those numbers together, I had to charge for the iOS version. I hope you understand!
Anyway, it’s available now. And I have two things to ask you. If you’re an iPhone user, give it a try and send me all your feedback so I can make it even better. If you’re an Android user, please tell your iPhone-wielding friends – it would really help me out!
What features are coming next?
All my new features will come to both Android and iOS. So you can eventually look forward to all the top requests from Redditors including spell loadouts, an easy way to unprepare/uncast spells, custom spell imports, and metamagic support.
The feedback you’ve sent me so far is amazing, and my todo list is getting super long. I love it! So keeping hitting me with all of your comments, and I’ll keep trying to make something you all love to use. <3
